World famous artist Christo installed a temporary (and free!) masterpiece at the Lake Iseo in Italy: “The Floating Piers” – swimming plastic elements covered in bright orange fabric that lead from the shore to a little island in the middle of the lake. They’ll be gone by Independence Day. (More info here.)
Thanks to my Dad, I also got a chance to go and couldn’t resist sharing some of the pictures I took:
The fabric fittingly reminded me of beach sand.
Looks like a pretty fun job.
The whole thing looks small but surreal from farther away.
Standing on shaky grounds and getting ready to take my shoes off (as advised by Christo himself!)
I even got a free souvenir: a piece of the bright orange fabric used in the making of the installation.
Mistakes can happen to anyone.
Last but not least a larger, explorable image.
